Title: The Conception and Practice of a Cultural Bay Area: A Study of the Literary Supplement Mingyue Bay Area in Hong Kong’s Ming Pao

Abstract: As a significant platform for cultural dissemination, newspaper literary supplements carry rich social information and cultural connotations. The literary supplements of Hong Kong newspapers not only serve as a medium for literary creation and criticism but also reflect the evolution of social ideologies and cultural identity. This paper examines the literary and artistic supplement Mingyue Bay Area in Ming Pao, exploring its role as a cultural exchange platform for the Greater Bay Area. Rooted in Hong Kong yet extending its vision across the Bay Area, the supplement delves into the Lingnan cultural heritage, promotes cultural integration through academic research, and fosters the Bay Area’s artistic spirit via literary education. As a pivotal practice in conceptualizing a “Cultural Bay Area”, the establishment of Mingyue Bay Area offers novel insights into understanding the symbiotic development and future trajectory of Bay Area literature.
