Title: Generative Logic, Mechanism Construction, and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations: A Multidimensional Study of the China-ASEAN Theatre Community

Abstract: Amid the transformation of the global cultural governance system and the deepening of civilizational exchanges and mutual learning, the construction of the China-ASEAN Theatre Community has emerged as a critical practice to address challenges in regional cultural identity. This paper explores the formation logic, institutional innovations, and reciprocal learning value of this community from multidimensional perspectives. The study finds that the community’s generative logic arises from the interplay of three dimensions: geographical foundations providing physical space, ethnic ties establishing biological bonds, and the dissemination and evolution of theatre triggering dynamic formation. Furthermore, institutional innovations—such as tripartite collaboration among governments, universities, and civil society; the “4+1” theatre exhibition development pathway; and the “contact-dialogue-consensus” three-stage cultural identity model—have established a flexible and culturally resonant framework for community engagement. Finally, the community enhances its value through the reconstruction of Eastern aesthetics, the preservation of cultural heritage, and contributions to global cultural governance, offering a Chinese approach to fostering a more inclusive intercultural communication order and new paradigms for global civilizational dialogue.
